This is for all those who wonder why the Republicans cannot ever get things done. Simply put, we do not have a two party system.

The Two-Party Illusion

The Republicans never seem able to make real changes to the government while the Democrats continue to grow their power and drive the country ever leftward. Even when Republicans control Congress and the White House, few changes are made. The mystery is quickly solved when it is recognized that we do not have a two-party system; it is really a multi-party system in disguise. The Republican Party is composed of at least three distinct parties, maybe more. It is not an authentic conservative institution. Interestingly, the Democrats are finally showing signs of fractures in their stringent uniformity, but their division is less problematic for them.

A political party should be united by common principles with alignment of major objectives. There must be unambiguous agreement on the big issues. Agreement on hollow platitudes or minor concerns does not create a powerful coalition that achieves substantial accomplishments. If there is not clear agreement upon where you want to go, you can never get anywhere. This is exactly why the GOP flounders. The Republican Party is a coalition composed of factions with divergent viewpoints on significant issues; it is a party composed of loosely aligned smaller parties. The examples below illustrate the true situation and explain why we are stuck where we are during these tumultuous times.

Why can’t the GOP close the border? The misleading and deceitful border bill from the Senate that just blew up is a perfect example. This bipartisan bill [sic] would not stop illegal immigration in the US but would fund Ukraine with more billions to defend their border. The Congressional war profiteers and their cronies would get another payday, but our border crisis would continue. Leading Republican Senators negotiated this and proudly pushed it until conservative and MAGA voters had the chance to read the bill. If the GOP cannot agree on controlling our border and protecting our citizenship, it is not a real political party. It is merely a collection of non-Democrats. The open border crisis may be the biggest issue this election cycle, yet the Republican Party is split on this issue while the Democrats are not. If the GOP threw out all who support the Democrats’ open border, it would be obvious that the conservative wing of the GOP does not have the votes to soundly defeat the Democrats on this issue. Some Republicans yield to donors who want cheap labor, while others are liberal enough to side with the Democrats ideologically. Others are happy in the DC swamp and go along with the will of the DC elite to secure their invitations to the cocktail parties to profit by association.

No budget, unrestrained spending, and the enormous debt destroying future prosperity. The notion that the GOP is united in the quest to balance the budget and reign in the federal government is also an illusion. The Democrats are united in their desire for huge levels of federal spending and the growth government with no concern for any catastrophic debt consequences. Republicans often talk about cutting spending, but it never happens. There are definite GOP factions in opposition on this topic. Authentic conservatives do exist who intensely want to cut spending and reduce the size of government, but they are in the minority. The rest of the GOP and all the Democrats are big spenders who now turbocharge the stock market with the annual $1-2 trillion government budget deficits and enrich cronies and the Wall Street wealthy. These treasury looters expand their personal portfolios as they secretly smile. This tragic situation makes it impossible for the federal budget to be controlled.

The “big government” Republican factions should be easily recognizable once you accept that the two-party system is a sham. The GOP elites have been in power in Washington for many years. They have become rich and powerful thanks to their disingenuous government spending habits and insider connections. They groom new elected officials with their money and power to maintain control. These elites will keep the money flowing from the Treasury no matter what they may say publicly. These power-hungry elites are the members of the DC Uniparty that run things. Another faction is the NeoCon gang who want a huge military budget to fight endless foreign conflicts and to grow the defense industry. This group is willing to go along with Democrat big spending in trade for a big defense budget. They collaborate to maintain spending sprees for each other. Also, there are the RINOs (Republicans in name only) or more accurately, liberal Republicans who are really Democrats. They fool enough voters with their rhetoric to win as Republicans but then act like Democrats all too often. This splits the GOP into four different parties on this issue with only one faction willing to cut spending. It is clear with such division that spending will never be cut and government never restrained under this five-party scenario.

Consider other major issues and the Republican disarray. There is no consensus for many big matters like the transgender hysteria, compulsive energy transitions, healthcare, Ukraine, and many more such problems important to Republican and independent voters. A strong and united party would have consensus on these big issues and real plans to effectively deal with them. However, it is apparent the Republican Party is not aligned on many big issues, so it cannot achieve tangible results because the party is split into multiple factions. There is only one conclusion possible. The United States has a multi-party system pretending to be two-party. To achieve political success, a conservative party must grow itself into a majority or it must form coalitions to make progress one step at a time. Good luck with that because if all masks are removed, patriotic conservatives are a small minority. Can conservatives really expect to succeed when their bitter political enemies control the bureaucracies, media, tech, education, and pop culture?
