Climatology is NOT Science

Before our society marches collectively to its self-destruction to the beat of the hollow drum of the climate doomsayers, perhaps we should have one of the debates never held. Minnesota legislators just doomed the state to freeze in the dark by mandating all carbon-free energy by 2030. Climatology is not a science; it is a study (the precursor to science). Climatologist are studying climate with limited data and tools; it is their claims that are unlimited. They bluff with their gigantic math models and supercomputers, but it is just cynical conjecture until the verifiable physical laws of climatology are discovered and validated by experimentation.

Science is built upon the honest use of the scientific method. It involves completing a series of steps. Initially there is observation. A researcher studies a topic, gathering and organizing information. This leads to questions that drive deeper investigation. Next, a hypothesis can be formulated from the investigation. A hypothesis is an educated guess that explains the observations. A hypothesis is just a best guess, not an answer. The next step, experimentation, makes science, science. Experiments are devised and conducted to prove the hypothesis. Successful experiments generate validating data to refine and prove the hypothesis. Next, a true scientist reports the conclusions openly and in full detail to enable others to confirm the findings. Real scientific discoveries are open to all questions and can withstand scientific examination. After validation, a scientific hypothesis becomes a scientific reality and a new part of the scientific foundation that future research is built upon. Climatology cannot pass through the experimentation step; that makes climatology a study, not a science. A climatologist can only study the climate, their claims are only guesses until they can validate them by experimentation.

Math modeling of global climate is not experimentation and cannot validate a hypothesis. Math modeling takes data and fits equations to it. Proper modeling should strictly follow statistical protocol, but it looks like the climatologists ignore it using collaboration and manipulation. Also, climate models can be confounded by sizable astronomical variations from the Sun and the imperfect Earth orbit and wobble. Statistical degrees of freedom, t-tests, Q-tests, and such statistics are beyond the scope of this article. Just understand that a comprehensive math model must have even greater comprehensive data to support the model. Since we only have comprehensive data for a few decades, it is impossible to accurately model climate across thousands of years. Maybe after we finally have 50,000 years of comprehensive planetary climate data, climatology might become a science, moving beyond its study phase.

Another critical feature of math modeling is extrapolation; that is, extending conclusions past the range of data you have on hand. Extrapolation past the data range is a statistical no-no. Climatologists are dishonestly extrapolating when they claim that the addition of a couple hundred parts per million of CO2 will kill all life and turn the Earth into a smoldering cinder. Their models are useless until they have comprehensive data from a time when the Earth had higher CO2 and an existential threat occurred. Why useless? It is because extrapolation is a statistical no-no. Higher CO2 could be a boon for life on the planet or it could be doomsday, but climatologists cannot prove either future scenario without such comprehensive data from a high CO2 atmosphere.

How did climatology become so powerful, irrefutable, and untouchable? Blame governments, the media, and the education system. The government funds all of this research as practiced. The government wants climate hysteria and pays the scientist to produce their desired results. They support the collaborating climatologists who viciously defend the global warming hypothesis because it is a win-win situation for them and the government. It is just another scheme for money and power. A small group of collaborators controls climate research funding, professor tenure, and scientific journal publications. They have total control. The government funds them and uses the misleading results as the basis for regulation and power. The compliant media promotes and defends them. The education system, also funded by government, implants climate hysteria into all children. Money and power, money and power. Al Gore has made hundreds of millions of dollars from his hysterical rants as an example. They all use “science” as their shield to protect their scheme from examination, but real science has not been achieved. Climatology and their existential threat nonsense is just mendacious guesswork based on incomplete studies, not science with proper statistics and the scientific method. It’s only Climate Studies, not Climate Science.

Until we have open, honest debate about the climate, the frightened climate lemmings will drag us all over the cliff to fake science suicide. Demand re-examination and open debate, or we suffer.
